VYPE Austin’s UIL State Baseball Predictions

Three Austin area baseball teams have advanced to the UIL state final four. Check out our classification previews to see who has the best shot to finish the season with the 3A, 5A and 6A titles.

6A State Semifinal: Lake Travis (37-4) vs. Southlake Carroll (31-11)

Day and Time: Friday June 7th at 7 p.m.

Location: Round Rock’s Dell Diamond

What you need to know: Lake Travis won 25-6A, entered the postseason as the state’s third best 6A team, earned victories in 10 of its 11 playoff games, and is making its second trip to the UIL state final four since 2012. The Cavaliers will face a Southlake Carroll squad that won 5-6A, entered the postseason as the state’s seventh best 6A team, earned victories in all nine of its playoff games, and is making its ninth trip to the UIL state final four since 1982.

Matchup Pick: Lake Travis

Other State Reps: Fort Bend Ridge Point (32-4-1) and McKinney Boyd (31-14)

State Championship Pick: Lake Travis over Fort Bend Ridge Point

5A State Semifinal: Georgetown (40-4-1) vs. Sharyland Pioneer (37-8)

Day and Time: Thursday June 6th at 7 p.m.

Location: Round Rock’s Dell Diamond

What you need to know: Georgetown won 18-5A, entered the postseason as the state’s best 5A team, earned victories in nine of its 11 playoff games, and is making its second trip to the UIL state final four since 2015. The Eagles will face a Sharyland Pioneer squad that finished second in 31-5A, entered the postseason as the state’s 15th best 5A team, won nine of its 12 playoff games, and is making its first trip to the UIL state final four.

Matchup Pick: Georgetown

Other State Reps: Colleyville Heritage (37-3) and Corsicana (29-10)

State Championship Pick: Georgetown over Colleyville Heritage

3A State Semifinal: Blanco (32-4) vs. Van Alstyne (29-5)

Day and Time: Friday June 7th at Noon

Location: Round Rock’s Dell Diamond

What you need to know: Blanco earned the top playoff spot from 25-3A, entered the postseason as the state’s 11th best 3A team, earned victories in all nine of its playoff games, and is making its third trip to the UIL state final four since 1988. The Panthers will face a Van Alstyne squad that won 10-3A, entered the postseason as the state’s 14th best 3A team, earned victories in 10 of its 12 playoff games, and is making its second trip to the UIL state final four since 2016.

Other State Reps: Wall (37-1) and Kirbyville (33-7-1)
