Three Land on Preseason All-American Team

March 26th saw the release of the USA Today’s ALL-USA High School Preseason Softball and Baseball Teams for 2018-19 with three DFW-area athletes being selected.

All of the stats listed for each player are from last season.

Softball

Hayden Brown (Keller): Brown, a junior catcher from Keller, is noted by USA Today as a leader on the field and behind the plate. Brown had 31 hits, including six doubles, two triples and six home runs, while producing 31 RBI. Brown has committed to play at LSU at the next level.

Jayda Coleman (The Colony): Coleman is the No. 1 prospect for 2020 and hit a staggering .714 that includes 75 hits (19 doubles, nine triples and six home runs) and added 43 stolen bases. Coleman, a junior utility player committed to Oklahoma, has an OPS of 1.990.

Baseball

Bobby Witt Jr. (Colleyville Heritage): Entering his senior year, Witt has garnered a lot of attention and is widely accepted to be the possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft. He has signed to play with Oklahoma. Witt, a shortstop, was a 2018 Third Team All-USA selection and is the reigning junior home run derby champion at the MLB All-Star Game.
