An action-packed slate of soccer matches saw many area teams square off against one another, and once the dust was settled from the regional quarterfinals, we were left with 15 teams still standing from the DFW.

Four of the six regional No. 1-ranked teams made it through last week’s games as five of those six No. 2-ranked teams prevailed.

6A Region I
No. 1 Grand Prairie had two come-from-behind goals – one in the second half and one in the second overtime – to force PKs against Marcus before ultimately winning 4-3 in the shootout.

Sam Houston (vs. Frenship), Arlington Bowie (vs. Euless Trinity) and Flower Mound (vs. W.T. White) each walked away from their respective regional quarterfinal matchups with 3-0 victories.

6A Region II
No. 2 Sachse netted all five penalty kicks to get past McKinney after finishing in a 2-2 tie; No. 1 Allen gave up its first goal of the playoffs but won comfortably 3-1 over Mesquite.

The first of two No. 1-ranked area teams to fall was Lovejoy, which dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 3 Frisco Heritage. Its Frisco brethren, Wakeland, defeated R.L. Turner 3-1.

4A Region I
No. 3 Stephenville dominated No. 2 Castleberry on the way to a 4-1 win; No. 1 Argyle squeezed by Kennedale 1-0 to advance to the semis.
