Twelve regional champions were crowned over the weekend in the three UIL girls soccer tournaments setting up a fun-filled State Tournament, which kicks off in a couple days.

Half of those regional champions hail from the DFW area – the max that was possible entering the weekend.

Region I

Southlake Carroll continued its dominating run with back-to-back shutouts in the regional tournament, blanking Frenship 3-0 in the semifinals and then Richardson Pearce 6-0 in the finals. Carroll has outscored its opponents 22-3 on the way to the regional championship.

Region II

Allen posted its own back-to-back shutouts in the regional tournament, fourth straight overall, beating both Vandergrift (semifinals) and Rockwall-Heath (finals) 1-0. Allen’s defense has been stout through the playoffs so far, surrendering a lone goal in the Bi-District Round.

Region I

Mansfield Legacy extended its shutout streak to four straight with a 1-0 win over Aledo in the semifinals and a 2-0 win over Burleson Centennial in the finals. Legacy has a 16-1 scoring advantage during its playoff run.

Region II

Highland Park punched its second bid to the State Tournament in three years after outscoring its opponents 8-1 in the regional tournament (8-0 vs. North Forney in semifinals; 2-1 vs. Frisco Independence in finals). Highland Park has scored 30 goals during the playoffs.

Region I

We got what we wanted in a Stephenville-Castleberry Regional Finals matchup, but the end result wasn’t close as Stephenville took home the regional crown with a 6-0 win. Stephenville outscored opponents 14-1 over the weekend.

Region II

The only match that needed extra time on a rainy Saturday was the 4A Region II finals as Melissa edged past Spring Hill 5-4 in the shootout. Melissa defeated Paris 2-0 in the semifinals, which up to the finals, was the third straight shutout in the playoffs.
