Flower Mound (20-3-1) was scoreless for the first 60 minutes of Friday’s UIL 6A boys soccer state semifinal, but outscored Alief Elsik (24-2-1) 3-1 in a four-minute and 12-second span to erase an early 1-0 hole and earn a 3-2 victory at Georgetown ISD’s Birkelbach Field.

VYPE Player of the Game Joe Perryman scored back-to-back goals to give Flower Mound its first lead at 2-1. The first came at 60:12 and the second followed at 61:59.

“That momentum,” said Perryman. “We were feeling it. Everyone was working hard, we took our chances, and we finished.”

Elsik, who took a 1-0 lead on Juan Zometa’s goal at the 23-minute mark of the match, didn’t score again until Danford Ndabah’s goal at 62:47.

Ultimately, Niko Zeppenfeld’s score with 15:36 left gave Flower Mound the final lead at 3-2.

Flower Mound advances to play the San Antonio LEE/The Woodlands College Park winner in the final match of the year, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

“[What] we play all season for,” said Perryman. “This is the pinnacle.”
