Second Baptist dominates TAPPS golf

The Second Baptist boys golf teams reigns again as the TAPPS 5A State Champion. The Eagles won its second straight state title April 29-30 at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose, TX.

Second Baptist led by 10 after day one with a score of 287 and secured the victory with a team score of 291 one the second day for a 12 shot win over Laredo St. Augustine.

All five players on the roster are seniors and include future collegiate golfers lead by Travis Vick. The defending individual state champion and University of Texas signee finished runner up firing rounds of 66 and 67 for a two day total of 133.

Samuel Oelfke (142) finished t-9 and Donovan Dasmalchian (143) placed 11th, and Richard Callaway (160) and Tyler Holt (193) round of the Eagles championship squad.

University of Oklahoma commit Stephen Campbell of Fort Bend Christian Academy took home the individual title with impressive rounds of 61-70 for a 131 total.
