Hargrave ended its magical run to the Texas 4A softball title with a dominating victory Saturday afternoon over Anna 12-0 in six innings.  Behind another stellar performance from Katy Janes in the circle and at the plate the Lady Falcons bring home their first state title since 2015.

Janes was spectacular again as she struck out ten while only giving up a meaningless bunt single to Anna’s Shelby Dombrowski in the fifth inning.  Her strike percentage was 70% that kept the Anna bats off balance.

Along with her double digit strikeouts in the circle Janes also had a 2 run home run and a one run double at the plate along with scoring a run and adding a walk.

The Lady Falcons scored early and often and they put three spots up in the first, third, fifth, and sixth innings.  Along with Janes offensively Hargrave was powered by Christin Haygood with three hits and Hagen Pikes, Kenzie Gates, and Janes with two hits apiece.

Janes, who was awarded the tournament 4A Most Valuable Player, completed her two game state tournament with 26 strikeouts and only three hits.

The win Saturday ends Hargrave’s season with an overall record of 38-7-1, Anna ends their season at 27-10-1.
