VYPE 411: Inside the huddle with MCA’s Kori Kirk

The Midland Classical Academy defended their Class 3A TAPPS title, beating Legacy Christian in the state title game.

Running the show is Kori Kirk, an all-state selection who will lead MCA next year in pursuit of a three-peat. The sharp-shooter fits perfectly in coach Carla Cunneen’s style of play. The Lady Knights have developed into a TAPPS power out in West Texas

VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence in your sporting life? And Why?

KIRK: My parents have been my biggest influence. They have honestly taught me all that I know and are my biggest supporters.

VYPE: What has been your greatest high school memory so far?

KIRK: My favorite memory so far has been eating cookie dough the night before the state semifinal game.

VYPE: What’s your biggest strength? Or what do you dring to your team?

KIRK: I would have to say my biggest strength is my determination to get things done in an encouraging way.

VYPE: What do you see yourself doing in five years?

KIRK: I hope to be finishing my degree in architecture and my soccer career.

VYPE: What advice would you give a younger athlete starting his/her high career?

KIRK: I would tell them not to give up even when the environment around them makes them want to.

VYPE:  What do you do outside of sports?

KIRK: I am engaged in my Church doing volunteer work, and just hanging out with family and close friends.
